Southwark Pools Decarbonisation
Architype have been working with the London Borough of Southwark since 2025 to support the targeted decarbonisation of key council assets: Camberwell Leisure Centre, Surrey Docks Water Sports and Fitness Centre, Peckham Pulse, Castle Leisure Centre.

Outside of education buildings, leisure centres represent 50% of the total carbon emissions of the Council’s estate – and therefore present an effective opportunity to make the borough carbon neutral by 2030.
Funded in part by Salix Finance, the programme will deliver carbon reduction across some of the council's most energy-intensive assets and the elimination of fossil fuel dependency in these buildings in line with both Architype and the Council’s sustainability pledges. Simultaneously it will achieve significant thermal improvement for building users.

Design
