Architectural Assistant
BSc(Hons) Interior Architecture and Design, BA (Hons) Architecture

Katrina joined Architype as a Part 1 architectural assistant in 2017 and has been involved in numerous education projects.

Her experience includes Suntrap Forest Education Centre feasibility study for the London Borough of Waltham Forest; and the retrofit and expansion of Norlington Boys School, also for LB Waltham Forest. She has worked on a major new Passivhaus secondary school, Mulberry Academy, London Dock for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets; and the refurbishment and expansion of George Green’s secondary school - a repeat commission for Tower Hamlets.

Katrina helped deliver three primary school improvement projects for the London Borough of Haringey, one of which is a SEN school, and is currently working on the Passivhaus Maybury primary school in Scotland.

Katrina believes that buildings must be designed from the inside outwards and has developed wide sources of inspiration from work, travel, and volunteering. Her voluntary work includes collaborating with the teachers and pupils of six schools in north London and a gallery to produce installations as an initiative to introduce young people to design and architecture.

Education

Katrina graduated with two first class honours degrees from The Cass, London Metropolitan University, where her projects investigated the effects of regeneration and applied design methodologies to empower communities through the built environment.
