Paul has over 20 years’ experience as a qualified architect; he joined Architype’s Edinburgh studio in early 2021.

Prior to joining Architype, Paul worked in design-led architectural practices in London, Oxford and Leeds. His project experience includes education, residential, retail, master-planning and cultural developments.

Paul’s residential project experience includes complex mixed-use projects, predominantly in historic or urban settings and he is currently overseeing Architype’s Scottish housing projects. Paul is passionate about creating well-designed homes that improve people’s lives and well-being and that make a positive impact on their wider community.

Paul is experienced at managing complex education projects with large client or stakeholder groups and has worked on Currie Community High School and multiple primary and secondary and school projects across Scotland. Paul is also involved in the CoRE / Community Renewable Energy Project in East Ayrshire.

Paul is passionate about good design and has a keen interest in ensuring a rigorous, consistent design approach is achieved across all aspects and scales of projects.

Education

Paul qualified as an architect in 2000. He studied for his Diploma in Architecture at Oxford Brookes University, prior to this he obtained his degree at Huddersfield University where he spent much of his final year studying in Amman, Jordan. At Oxford Brookes he specialised in the re-use of existing buildings.
