Jonathan joined Architype in 2021 after working on several Passivhaus schools since 2016 with the practice.

Jonathan has been a passionate believer in low carbon buildings and has been a member of the CIBSE Low Carbon Consultants register since September 2007. Jonathan worked on the first A* EPC rated primary school in England & Wales which was completed in 2011, then in 2016 Jonathan provided the mechanical design for two Welsh Passivhaus primary schools as part of Architype’s design team. Jonathan then left the Consultant Engineering team to join the main contractor in order to help oversee the school’s construction, handover and post occupancy.

Jonathan is an experienced building services design engineer and also is very experienced at thermal modelling, providing Part L reports, BB101/TM52 Overheating analysis, EPC’s and daylight studies.

He has experience of working a wide range of projects, having worked on residential, commercial offices, football stadiums, hotels, schools, hospitals and leisure centres. Jonathan now focuses on provided technical advice to Architype and their colleagues on several projects as well as undertaking Building Performance Evaluations to ensure buildings are operating as designed and that user feedback is fed back into the design process for future schools.

Education

Jonathan achieved his degree in Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering from the University of West of England in 2001.

Jonathan has since qualified as a chartered engineer through CIBSE as well as qualifying as a Low Carbon Energy Assessor (LCEA) and a Low Carbon Consultant (LCC).
