Passivhaus trust awards 2015

Architype is proud to have been presented with the Passivhaus Trust Award for the ‘large projects’ category with our 2nd generation Passivhaus School, Wilkinson Primary.

The awards, which took place at the Austrian Embassy on the 7th of July, celebrate the best certified Passivhaus schemes in the UK, including small, large and retrofit projects.

The programme for the day sees all of the shortlisted teams present their projects to the delegates who then vote for their preferred winning contenders.

Architype’s presentation focused on the lessons learned from our 1st generation Passivhaus schools and the improvements made with Wilkinson Primary School, showing our progression and commitment to the standard and our willingness to disseminate our experience and the things we have learned.

We also presented the results from a year of research of 5 of our school projects, which provided clear evidence of Wilkinson Primary’s exemplar levels of thermal comfort and radically reduced CO2 levels, positively impacting on, health, wellbeing and concentration levels.

This was also the trust’s 5th Anniversary, which was marked by a special feature with a reflective look back at past winners in a short film by Ben Adam-Smith. The film revisited Oak Meadow Primary School, the first Passivhaus School in the UK, to see how they are getting on three years later.

The win was made particularly special by the competition in each category, which was extremely high and inspiring for the future of Passivhaus in the UK. Visit the trusts’ website for a closer look at the shortlist
