Architectural Assistant & Passivhaus Designer
BSc (Hons) Architecture

Sonia joined Architype in 2019 as a Part 2 architectural assistant based in our Hereford studio. She is a Certified Passivhaus Designer and is currently completing her part time Masters in Sustainable Architecture at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales.

Since joining Architype, Sonia has worked on a number of cultural projects including several archive schemes and collections optimisation. Sonia is interested in low carbon construction methods as well as an integrated response to environmentally sensitive and thoughtfully designed buildings.

Education

Sonia graduated with first class honours from The University of Nottingham in 2019. During her studies she received several scholarships including the opportunity to study abroad at The University of New South Wales, Australia, as part of a student exchange programme. Sonia recently completed her Masters in Sustainable Architecture at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales with distinction and was named the Young Architecture Scholarship Winner of Y Lle Celf at the Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru.

Sonia undertook training in lifecycle carbon analysis (LCA) and explored LCA tools in her dissertation. She has a keen interest in environmentally sustainable design and energy modelling, which led to her successfully completing Certified Passivhaus Designer training.
