The Masterplan for the listed Taplow Court Estate, the UK Headquarters of SGI-UK, a lay Buddhist Organisation, epitomises Architype’s approach to the consultation process. The brief involved extensive consultation with SGI-UK, English Heritage, the Garden History Society and Archaeological consultants. The complex comprises of a chanting and multipurpose hall, extensive conference facilities, 80 bed residential accommodation, a visitor shop and restaurant facilities. Key features include: • FSC accredited green oak cladding and cedar shingle roof • Sheep’s wool and hemp insulation • Passive ventilation strategy • Rainwater recycling • Adiabatic cooling and use of thermal mass The centre was featured in a leading article in the RIBA Journal. | ||
