Our new Creative Media Training Centre transforms a disused Victorian library into a flagship scheme comprising a dynamic mix of creative media training, commercial and community uses. The design enhances the character of this prominent building with a series of carefully crafted contemporary architectural interventions that compliment the Union Street Conservation Area.

The capacity of the existing building has been effectively doubled by extending the basement area to provide start-up studio spaces, inserting new media and theatre workshop spaces into an existing void in the streetscape, and extending upwards with a new third floor pavilion.

A rigorous ecological agenda has been central to the development of the scheme, with the integration of a biomass wood pellet heating system, a vertical axis wind turbine and solar thermal panels.

Through a sensitive and inventive approach to regeneration, this disused building has been transformed into a vibrant, forward-looking focus for the community.
