AJ retrofit awards 2015 schools

We are delighted share with you that Architype has been shortlisted for two projects for the AJ’s Retrofit Awards which celebrates the UK’s best refurbishment and renovation projects across the sector.

Shortlisted in the schools category, both the Robert Fitzroy Academy in Croydon and Camden Centre for Learning made the cut in the judge’s shortlist for their sensitive and sustainable approach to the brief.

The Robert Fitzroy Academy, a four-form entry primary school underwent a complex four phase design and construction programme that included renovation, conversion, and extension to unifying the site which accommodates buildings from the Edwardian era, 1920s, 1950s and 1970s.

Camden Centre for Learning on the other hand inhibits a different set of complexities that challenged the team to provide an up-to-date and secure environment for children from the borough with social, emotional and behavioral difficulties; all within the limitations of a sensitive retrofit of a locally listed building.

We will look forward to hearing the results at the awards ceremony held in London in September where the winners will be announced. Congratulations to all!
