A complex housing project funded by the DOE Estate Action programme, Tower Hamlets Council, LDDC and the Housing Corporation, with a total value of £5.4 million.

The major element is the conversion and rehabilitation of John Scurr House, a 1930s block, into 72 flats. Of these, 8 were 'homesteaded', where the tenants, as part of a skills training scheme, carried out the fitting out works and decoration themselves. The scheme included major infrastructure and external works and substantial decontamination works of the whole site.

In addition there are 9 new flats and 14 new houses for Newlon Housing Association.

Architype acted as lead consultants from option appraisal stage right through to completion.

The three year construction period was completed in May 1997.
